Icons - by Fr. Donat Lamothe, A.A

About Donat’s Icons
Icons represent events. You do not paint an icon, you write an icon. The first thing you do is put the gold leaf down. This represents the divine. Next, you do the red circle in the halo, which is the alpha line. The last thing you write is the white line around the halo, the omega line. This is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. The highlights in the icon represent the darkness to light. When you pray, you think of coming from darkness to light. The rectangle line on the border represents our world and the green on the border represents light and is the work of the spirit. His icons are traditional Byzantine style icons.
